This relationship between IWC and Watches of Switzerland can be traced all the way back to when the chairman and founder of the store, Eric van der Griend established “Watches of Switzerland” in 1996, after 10 previous years of importing luxury watches in to Australia. His IWC exclusivity reign would last till 2000 when Richemont purchased the brands and allowed other Australian retailers the opportunity to sell IWC merchandise. But, despite this “Watches of Switzerland” is still in business and a family owned company, currently with four storefronts as you can discover at: www.watchswiss.com.

There was actually a previous partnership made by IWC and Watches of Switzerland, at the time to celebrate their 10th anniversary. This was back in 2007 and the timepiece that resulted from this interaction was the “Watches of Switzerland Limited Edition Portuguese Chronograph”, which only had 25 pieces manufactured for the occasion.

Time is exhibited on a black dial with patina-colored hands and Roman numerals, followed by smaller minute index markers. There are three sub-dials: a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position; a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position; and a 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock position. The hands and indices have all undergone a Superluminova coating, for an enhanced legibility. While the second’s hand which tends to be colored red, appears in white for this limited version. There is also a two-window day-date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
