Vacheron Constantin has just released a new timepiece in their “Patrimony Collection” made with their precious “Collection Excellence Platine” concept which utilizes the exclusive 950 platinum, reserved for use on only their finest conceptions, just like this new edition.
The “Patrimony Collection” was conceived to produce contemporary reinterpretations of noble classic models form the Vacheron Constantin heritage, derived from traditional watchmaking dating back to the 1950’s. Where the emphases over these minimalistic timepieces resides on small details and crafting perfectly balanced lines and overall designs.
It was eleven years ago, back in 2006 when Vacheron Constantin first premiered their “Collection Excellence Platine” concept. It consists in offering the ultimate expression of haute horlogerie, by producing exceptional watches out of 950 platinum, which are released in limited numbered series. The 950 platinum is a luxury whose depth and highly distinctive grey colour create a fascinating light effect, capable of lasting an eternity. This exclusive metal is so noble it requires no varnish and will never become oxidized.
This “Patrimony” model already existed in the Vacheron Constantin catalog, although only in 18k pink gold and an 18k white gold version; but it had never been released in the exclusive 950 platinum before now. Some horology enthusiasts tend to confuse the “Patrimony” collection with the “Traditionelle” collection. But, a focused inspection easily reveals that both collections are quite refined, but the “Patrimony” are normally made with larger diameter casings.
The 42mm case is made of the aforementioned exclusive 905 platinum with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the movement and also features an engraving with the limited edition number of each individual piece. Equipped with short thick lugs for a secure and comfortable wrist fit and a setting-crown at the standard 3 o’clock position. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).
Time is exhibited on a 950 platinum sand-blasted dial with 18k white gold applied hour index markers. Followed by a convex external zone with circular “pearl” minute-track markers, circling around the dial. The Vacheron Constantin and Maltese cross-shaped logo can be seen under the 12 o’clock positon; while a “Pt950” hallmark identifying this watches case material has been placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
