VC Overseas FEATURE PIC -

Although Vacheron Constantin had unveiled the new “Oversea” collection at SIHH 2016 in the beginning of the year. As we’re about to head in to summer and hit the mid-year mark. They’re back with yet another innovation to this model line, by including a world-time indication on this “Vacheron Constantin Overseas World Time”.

For those who travel frequently a watch with a dual-time feature is always convenient. But, Vacheron Constantin have expanded this premise and now offer a watch with 37 different time-zones. There are other timepieces offering various time-zones, but though many feature about 24 zones, this model has included 13 unconventional time-zones, for a grand total of 37.

The 43.5mm case of this “Overseas World Time” manages to be larger than the “Overseas Chronograph”, but not as thick. The case lugs on this piece seem to wrap around the wrist, which gives it a snug feel on the wrist and look slightly smaller than it is. The sapphire crystal protects the busy dial and all the functions are easily set via a screw-down crown.  The transparent caseback allows to see the movement with its 22k gold rotor and intricate finishing touches.

The dial is available in 3 different color schemes: silver, brown or blue. After which they all exhibit a map of the northern hemisphere. The map is centered and seems to pop out with a nice contrast being achieved between the satin and velvet finishing’s. Circling around the map is a translucent lacquered disc with the city names on it. The standard 24 time-zones are in one font color, while the other 13 are in offset by 15 or 30 minutes and use a distinct font color.

After the city disc ring comes a 24-hour disc ring with the purpose of indicating day/night for each time-zone. And finally we have a third disc ring circling near the bezel with index minute markers. The hands on these watches are all 18k gold with a luminescent coating for enhanced legibility
