Most brands are already in full teaser mode, revealing or hinting at future offerings to be further unveiled at the upcoming SIHH 2018. So, before the grand horology event Vacheron Constantin is introducing its new “Overseas Dual Time” models.

What this new release brings is a new timepiece capable of simultaneously reading two time zones. Not, exactly ground-breaking but that’s not the point. A watch is meant to be efficient and straight to the point. And in that sense this timepiece delivers exactly that with style. Plus the convenient day/night indicator on the dial, keeping frequent travelers always prepared for what they will encounter as they reach their remote destinations.

The 41 mm case is made of either: stainless-steel or 18k rose gold, both with a transparent case that allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Mounted to the case is a six-sided bezel inspired by the emblematic Maltese cross.

Equipped with a screw-down crown and a quarter-turn screw-lock pusher piece, aligned with the 4 o’clock position. The setting crown serves to set the: local-time with an independent jumping adjustment, at its first position; and the home-time, dragging the adjustment of both time-zones and minutes, at its second pull-out position. Also features a soft-iron casing ensuring an anti-magnetic protection. Water-resistance on these timepieces can resist up to 150 meters (492 feet).

Time is exhibited on either a: blue or silver-toned dial with 18k white gold applied hour index markers, followed by smaller printed minute index markers circling around the dial. Another elevated and slightly turned inward ring can be seen nearing the bezel, with minute index markers and an Arabic numeral for every five-minute increment. There is a calendar sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position and an AM/PM indicator can be seen at the 9 o’clock position, synchronized to home-time. The central hands and the hour index markers have all undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. The extra central hand with a red arrow tip, serves to indicate a second time-zone.
