Docking in at bay is a new limited edition offering by Ulysse Nardin, from their “Marine Chronometer” collection, celebrating its 20th anniversary. And in honor of their “Monaco Yacht show” sponsorship they have dubbed this new release as the “Ulysse Nardin Marin Chronometer Annual Calendar Monaco”.

The Monaco Yacht show is the world’s largest mega yacht exhibition, where yacht builders from all around the world gather to show-off and admire each other’s customized ships. Every year this event occurs at the picturesque Port Hercule, under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. Needless to say the seafaring heritage Ulysse Nardin has garnered since 1846, makes them an ideal partner for this event. Just as much as their exquisitely crafted “Marine Chronometer” timepieces were especially conceived for an event as prestigious as the Monaco Yacht show, which took place between the 26th and 29th of September.

The 43mm case is made of stainless-steel with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It is based on the current production “Ulysse Nardin Marine Annual Calendar Blue Dial” (Ref#: 1133-210/E3).

“Ulysse Nardin Marine Annual Calendar Blue Dial” (Ref#: 1133-210/E3) is non-limited version

But, the “Monaco” edition differs by having a white dial and being a limited edition piece. Mounted to the case is also a stainless-steel fluted bezel, contrasting well off the smooth polished case. All topped by a sapphire crystal and equipped with a screw-down crown, which assists with keeping this watch water-resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet).

Time is exhibited on a white lacquered dial with blue Roman numerals, followed by a railroad-track minute track circling the dial near the bezel with triangular hour index markers in its midst, for every five minute increment. There are two sub-dials: an annual calendar indicated by the small blue hand, while the large red hand ticks away as a sub-seconds, both together at the 6 o’clock position; plus a power reserve indicator positioned at the 12 o’clock spot.

Featuring a hollowed out diamond tip hour hand and a hollowed out circular minute hand, indicating current time. There is also a date aperture at the 6 o’clock position, mixed into the sub-dial. The hands and hour index markers have all undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
