After first unleashing the “Moonstruck” model on to the horology market in 2009, Ulysse Nardin is back with an updated version featuring a world-timer function and a re-envisioned dial.

One of the elements which made this timepiece unique was the inclusion of a function allowing to read detailed information about the waves. But, that wasn’t enough for Ulysse Nardin so they’ve taken this watch to another level with the world-timer complication.

The 46mm case is available in either: 18k rose gold or platinum, both with a transparent case backs that allow to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. There are two push-pieces on the left-side of the case baring a “plus” and “minus” sign to quickly re-set home-time or the second time-zone, by one-hour with a simple touch.

Between the pushers is a screwed-on plaque with the number of each limited edition piece. While on the right-side of the case is a screw-down security crown, which assists in water-resistance on this timepiece being able to reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).

While the original version of this timepiece included a rotating world figure in the dial, it was removed for this update.

Instead time is exhibited on a dial with rotating discs representing the Northern and Southern hemispheres, with a blue background for the ocean. Followed by three rings with Arabic numerals made of either: platinum or 18k rose gold, depending on the selected version. The inner-most ring is a 31-day calendar; followed by a 14-hour ring and finally a 24-hour ring.

The tidal state has been represented in an artistic rendering on this watch. Ulysse Nardin uses the relationship between the: moon, Earth and sun; which are the main elements involved during the tidal motion. Finally on the edge nearing the bezel is the 24-city disc representing the distinct 24 time-zones, which have been adapted to the world map found in the center of the dial.

Also included is a day/night indicator near the rings, for an enhanced legibility. This “Moonstruck Worldtimer” is the only astronomical timepiece to have the bright side of the moon always facing the sun, as it occurs in real life.
