Tudor has released some very impressive sports watches that have gain immense warranted prestige and popularity, in the form of the “Black Bay” and “Pelagos” dive watches”. Now they try to break into the dress watch category with this “Tudor Glamour Double Date” collection.
Tudor has been positioning itself as a more affordable alternative to its sister brand Rolex, while keeping up a high standard of quality associated to their timepieces. Although Tudor has been around since 1926 in recent years they have regain a significant notoriety after a series of successful releases that has reanimated and reaffirmed their position as not only an alternative to Rolex, but as a reputable brand option in their own full right.
The 42mm case is available in either stainless-steel or 18k yellow gold and stainless-steel, both with a transparent exhibition case back that allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement.
This case has a polished finish and is characterized by a dropped bezel with gentle curves and angled edges. It also comes equipped with a screw-down setting-crown embossed with the Tudor logo. All topped by a curved sapphire crystal that also assists with water-resistance on this watch being able to reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited on either a silver opaline, black or champagne dial. The steel silver dialed model has blue steeled hour index markers, followed by small printed minute index markers; while the steel black dialed option has kept the hands and markers with its natural grey steel hue.
As for the two-tone 18k yellow gold and steel models, both the champagne and silver dials come with gold applied hour index markers, followed by small printed minute index markers.
All these dials be it in the steel or two-tone cases can also be had with diamond-studded hour index markers, for an additional price.
On the upper-half of the dial is a two-window aperture date with the “TUDOR” logo underneath, while on the lower-half of the main dial is a sub-second dial. The central hands can be had in: blued steel (silver dial), stainless-steel (black dial), or 18k yellow gold (on both the two-tone models); all with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
Tudor Glamour Double Date
This “Tudor Glamour Double Date” is powered by a self-winding in-house mechanical movement, caliber MT5641 with 32 jewels and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a variable inertia balance, non-magnetic silicon balance spring and bi-directional rotor system. This was the first Tudor made caliber to include a small seconds and a double date function. Power reserve 70 hours on this watch can last up to 70 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is either: a matte brown alligator leather strap with exposed contrasting stitching, secured by a steel folding clasp; a stainless-steel bracelet, or an 18k yellow gold and steel bracelet; both also secured by a matching metal folding-clasp.
