Originally TAG Heuer debuted the ‘Carrera 01’ back in 2015. And now two years later it is about to be reintroduced with more color options, an overall skeletonized dial and a smaller sized case diameter, in less than a month at Baselworld 2017.

The 43mm case is composed of 12 modular parts made of satin-finished stainless-steel. Comes equipped with classic long Carrera lugs that were given a modern twist, a crown with a redesigned rubber molding and a matte ceramic bezel. Its transparent sapphire case back allows to view the inner mechanical movement, with a red column wheel, a skeleton chronograph bridge and a circular black PVD weight, among other components like a clutch with an oscillating pinion.

At a closer glance one notices that all the movements’ chronograph functions are colored red, for an intuitive user interaction. The case also includes two push-pieces on the right side to activate and control the chronograph functions. Front is covered by a domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet) on this timepiece.

Time is exhibited on a skeletonized dial with three various color scheme options TAG Heuer has designated: deep navy blue, intense black or a cognac brown. Each selected color can be seen spread out in a circular motif, beginning with the ceramic bezel and moving inwards towards the center of the dial and around the sub-seconds dial as well.

It features: central seconds, a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position, a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position and a 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock position. There is also a white date aperture between the 3 and 4 o’clock markers. And a tachymeter scale has been engraved on the ceramic bezel, matching the color scheme of each particular version.
