Graham Superlight FEATURE PIC

The third and final entry in this trilogy “Superlight Carbon Collection” model line, by the British manufacturer Graham, has been announced in time to debut at Baselworld 2016. This watch manages to combine complex performance with atypical materials, such as a black carbon fiber composite. And its main distinguishing mark derives from manufacturing a 47mm case that weighs under 100 grams! An impressive and major pride factor for this historic British brand.

Carbon-fiber has been used more and more in cases for its levity, but this new Graham just went “all in” by extending the use of this material to the bezel and dial. The end result is the impressive under 100 gram weight of this 47mm case, which even looks bigger than that due to Graham’s trademark start/stop trigger. Carbon-fiber has a remarkable strength to weight ratio which makes it one of the preferred composites used in the aerospace and automotive industry.

The dial is an exquisitely mild patterned black carbon with grey graduation, featuring snailed seconds and minute counters. The grey hands and numerals feature a Super-LumiNova coating and contrast well with the orange chrono, minutes and seconds counter hands, for enhanced legibility. Also includes two sub-dials: a sub-seconds at the 3 o’clock position and a 30-minute counter at the 6 o’clock position. All time measurements are read thru Arabic numerals and a date aperture can be found between the 8 and 9 o’clock position. Also includes a tachymeter scale with a reversed minute’s counter and a grey “Start” inscription.

This Graham also features its trademark fast-action start/stop trigger with a black rubber reset pusher and the “Clous de Paris” high grip pattern. The covering sapphire crystal is doomed with an anti-reflective coating on both faces. While the caseback has a smoked sapphire crystal with an orange “superlight carbon” inscription and limited edition serial number. The water-resistance on this timepiece can reach up to 330 feet (100 meters).
