Officine Panerai recently marched out four new models for their “Radiomir” collection with military-green colored dials. This brand has always been known for their navy and army collaborations. This isn’t the first time Panerai has used green on their dials, but that doesn’t diminish these releases at all. These four releases offer a viable option for just about any horologists needs ranging from simple to complicated.

All these new releases are based on the 1940 model line and not the more recognizable Radiomir, which can be accurately identified by its thin wired lugs. Just as most of the “Luminor” collection is recognizable via its trademarked crown protection device. Instead these models feature the more solid cushion-shaped case with integrated lugs. In essence all these new releases are similar to classic models that we’ve seen before, except for the novelty brought on by the aforementioned green-military hue found on all their dials.

First let’s focus on the “Panerai Radiomir PAM 995” that comes in a 45mm stainless-steel case with a polished finish, based on the classic “Radiomir 1940” model. Its construction features the aforementioned integrated lugs. All topped by a sapphire crystal that also assists with water-resistance on this watch being capable of reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).

Time is exhibited on a matte military green sandwich dial. This is the simplest model in the collection and tells time with only hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 3, 6, 9 and 12. There is also a sub-seconds counter at the 9 o’clock position. The gold-plated central hands have been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.

Dial wise it’s almost identical to the simple, smaller sized “PAM 995”; except the central and sub-dial hands on this version have been blackened to match with the case. It is an interesting alternate interpretation of the “1940” model editions.
