As summer winds down Officine Panerai is fully wound up with new releases. This time they have just released a pair of new “Luminor” models packed with a significant 8-day power reserve. Now you can set it and forget till next week with the new “Panerai Luminor Marina 8-Days Power Reserve” PAM795 in steel and PAM797 in titanium.
Just last week we were taking a close look at the duo of “Radiomir” models they released with a vintage “Art Deco” inspired dial design, which we reviewed and you can learn more about here. And those weren’t the only new additions to the Officine Panerai catalog. But, before we could even get into checking those timepieces out this week we’re surprise with yet another expansion on their model line.
These new “Luminor” models come in the standard 44mm case, but we’ve been given the possibility of acquiring them in either: grade 5 titanium or 316L stainless-steel. Both models come with a solid screw-on case back, which features an engraving with technical details.
It also comes equipped with the iconic Panerai crown guard and its unlocking hatch. All topped by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that assist with water-resistance on this watch being able to reach up to 300 meters (984 feet).
Time is exhibited on the iconic Panerai sandwich dial in a black hue with hour index markers and the Arabic numerals 6 and 12. There is a sub-seconds dial at the 3 o’clock position. While the power reserve indicator counting down its eight days of wind-up can be seen between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
The central hands, Arabic numerals, hour index makers, sub-seconds hands and markers, plus the arrow-tipped power reserve hand and its markers; have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. It is a beige faux-vintage colored lume, which adds a certain mystique to this timepiece.
Panerai Luminor Marina 8-Days
These new “Panerai Luminor Marina 8-Days” (PAM795 & PAM797) are powered by a hand-wound in-house mechanical movement, caliber P.5002. The aforementioned and main talking point about these watches is their double-barrel power-reserve mechanism that can last up to 193 hours (8 days), when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is a dark brown leather strap with exposed contrasting stitching (for the PAM795 in steel) or a lighter brown colored strap (for the PAM797 in titanium); while both are secured to the wrist by a pin buckle, matching the case material of each version.
