In more pre-Baselworld 2019 news, Oris has just announced their first watch of the season as the Oris Dive Control”. This professional limited edition timepiece was developed in collaboration with Roman Frischknecht, a professional commercial diver from Switzerland. He has been a brand ambassador for Oris since 2009 and served as a key figure in also optimizing their “ProDiver” collection.
The 51mm multi-piece case is made of Grade 2 titanium coated in scratch-resistant black DLC and mounted with a ceramic minutes scale top ring.
While on the flip-side its solid screwed-on black plated titanium case back is engraved with special markings, the “Oris” logo and the unique individual number for each of these limited edition pieces.
It comes equipped with a screw-down crown and pusher, plus a helium escape valve.
All elements that contribute to its impressive water-resistance capable of reaching up to 1000 meters (3280 feet). This has been crafted and named in accordance with its raison d’être, which is to dive as deep as its wrist-bearer can possibly go. To further insure its diving capabilities it comes topped off by a double-domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating.
Just like on the “ProDiver” models, Oris has also provided this “Dive Control” watch with their patented RSS (Rotation Safety System), which was designed to lock a watch’s diving bezel securely in place during a dive. This innovative device has become an Oris signature feature sought out by many in the know, especially diving professionals and aficionados. View the video below for a better understanding of how to put this feature to use.
Time is exhibited on a black dial with a subtle wave motif that goes across the whole dial. It features metal applique hour index markers, followed by a smaller ring of white printed seconds markers and slightly longer minute index markers. Circling around the inner flange. A series of yellow printed markings can also be seen running for the first 15-minutes from 12 to the 3 o’clock position.
There are three sub-dials: a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position; a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position; and a 30-minute counter that also includes a yellow printed 60-minute counter in its midst at the 12 o’clock position. A date aperture is also positioned at 6 o’clock. The central hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
