Oris returns to market with one of their most underrated models for the “Artelier” collection. Specifically what we have here is the “Artelier Caliber 111” model with a “touch of gold. The case design has remained the same, Oris has just widen the range of options for those that already had this fine timepiece under consideration.
The Oris Artelier is described as a dress watch, but we feel it can easily pass a sports watch. Therefor a very good option for those in search of an all-purpose watch for daily use, which can also be worn well at a more formal occasion. It is a very functional timepiece that provides all the essential functions, plus a lengthy power-reserve. But, for those that appreciate an even more complete reading, Oris has “Artelier 113” option with a “busier” dial that you can read more about here.
The 43mm case is made of stainless-steel with a screwed-on sapphire crystal exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. As aforementioned in terms of case design that model is preserved the same exact measures of its predecessors. The lugs have a width of 23mm that proportionately counter-balances the case size, while also providing a comfortable wrist fit.
It comes equipped with a setting-crown at the 3 o’clock, which features an Oris logo engraving and has been crafted with shallow rivets that facilitate a firm grip. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating inside, which assists with water-resistance on this watch being able to reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).
Time is exhibited on a silver dial with the aforementioned baton-style 18k yellow hour index markers and the Arabic numerals 6 and 12; while on the inner-flange we have a series of black printed minute index markers, followed by small round yellow markers for every 5-minute increment.
There are two sub-dials: the 10 day power reserve indicator with black numerals and, except for the zero and a small line preceding it in red, between the 2 and 4 o’clock positions; plus a slightly smaller sub-seconds dial between the 8 and 10 o’clock positions.
The central hand and sub-seconds have all been crafted out of 18k yellow gold, while the central hands have also been given a C3 green line Superluminova filling, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture aligned with the 9 o’clock positon, protruding slightly into the sub-seconds dial. Oris has also inscribed “10 DAYS” in black print on the lower half of the dial.
