For those that live in the Big Apple being treated to exclusives and premieres is a recurring occurrence. But, despite such events being common place in New York we should avoid growing blasé. Not everyone is lucky enough to reside in a city so often chosen to showcase events and historic moments. To pay tribute Omega has released the “Seamaster Boutique New York Limited Edition”, exclusively available at their two New York City boutiques.
This new release is part of a bigger series known as the “Omega Specialties City Editions”. There have been five global centers bestowed with this honor by Omega: Paris, London, Singapore, Switzerland and New York. We previously reviewed the “Seamaster Boutique Switzerland Limited Edition” (Ref#: 511.13.40.20.06.002) that you can read more about here. These watches are essentially identical except the “Switzerland” model was crafted with 18k rose gold elements, while the “New York” model used 18k white gold.

The 39.5mm case for this “New York” model is made of stainless-steel with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement.
A detailed engraving of the city’s iconic skyline has been applied to the steel circumference, circling around the sapphire exhibition case back.
Some of the emblematic NYC fixtures that can be seen include the: Statute of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Manhattan Bridge, Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Empire State Building.
All topped by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, which also assists with water-resistance being able to reach up to 60 meters (200 feet).
Time is exhibited on a grey dial that has been slightly lacquered to accentuate the gradient effect. It features 18k Sedna™ white gold hour index markers and an inner ring of small discreetly printed black minute index markers. But, simply stating this is a “grey” dial does not do it justice. This is an exquisite smoky grey lacquered domed dial with an alluring gradient effect.
It also comes equipped with 18k Sedna™ white gold central hands, which is Omega’s patented equivalent version of what would standardly be described simply as 18k white gold. The “OMEGA” brand name and horseshoe logo have also been applied with their patented 18k white gold on the upper half of the dial. There is also a date aperture at the 6 o’clock position.
Omega Seamaster Exclusive Boutique New York Limited Edition
The “Omega Seamaster New York Limited Edition” (Ref#: 511.13.40.20.02.002) is powered by a self-winding in-house mechanical movement, caliber 8800 with 35 jewels and 25,200 vph. It is METAS-certified movement capable of resisting magnetic fields ranging in 15,000 gauss and equipped with a quick-set and a free sprung-balance with a silicon balance spring. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 55 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is a black leather strap, secured to the wrist by a stainless-steel pin buckle. This is a limited edition of only 399 manufactured pieces. For more up to date information visit the official Omega website here.
