Omega has decided to reprise their orange colored “Seamaster Planet Ocean”. It was back in 2005 that they originally debuted the higher-end version of the “Planet Ocean” model line, which distinguished itself by the more professionally-oriented 600 meters of water-resistance and its colorful orange bezel. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming 2019 “Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Orange Bezel”.

So, now over a decade later what we will find in this updated model is an amalgamation of all the small and major updates this collection has been accumulating along the years in various iterations. Since the previous circa-2005 orange bezel “Planet Ocean” powered by the caliber 2500 (which was a modified ETA movement), Omega has moved on to their in-house METAS-certified caliber 8900. Its original 42mm was slightly augmented to 43.5mm and they swapped the alloy-based bezel for ceramic; even adding rubber to some editions; like on this “Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m” (Ref#: 215.92.46.22.03.001) which is currently in stock at EiT here.

As aforementioned this updated model preserves a 43.5mm case that is made of stainless-steel with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Mounted to the case is a unidirectional ceramic orange bezel with a 60-minute rotatable scale engraving.

It also comes equipped with a screw-in crown and a helium escape valve, aligned at the 10 o’clock position. Topped by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, which assists with keeping this watch water-resistant up to a 600 meters (2000 feet).

Time is exhibited on a polished white ceramic dial with applied rhodium-plated hour index markers and the Arabic numerals 6, 9 and 12, followed by black printed minute-index markers circling around the dial made of Omega’s trademark liquidmetal.

The broad-arrow style central hands and the hour index-markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. Also as a subtle detail keeping with the overall color scheme, the central seconds hand is orange-tipped. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
