In order to commemorate three separate James Bond associated anniversaries, Omega has just released a special limited edition “Seamaster Diver 300M”. Omega has only been the official 007 watch since 1995, but they are still most proper brand to introduce this new “Commander’s Watch”.

So, the anniversaries in question here, relate to the movies: “You Only Live Twice” (1967) celebrating its 50th; “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977) celebrating its 40th; and “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997) celebrating its 20th anniversary. As for the “Commander” reference, maybe only true die-hard fans of agent Double-O Seven would know this, but James Bond was in fact portrayed as a Commander of the Royal Navy, in the original Ian Fleming novels. And actually the various actors that portrayed James Bond on these three movies can all be seen wearing a military uniform, during their adventures.
This watch is very similar design wise compared to previous Omega “James Bond”, like these “Seamaster Professional 300M Chrono, circa 2015”; or especially this “Seamaster Professional 300M GMT, circa 2012”. Making the color scheme homage to the British armed forces as one of the major novelties found on this newly released timepiece.
The 41mm case is made of stainless-steel with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. There is also an engraving that reads “Commander’s Watch” and the limited edition number of each individual piece, on the wave-edged caseback.
Mounted to the case is a blue ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel with a LiquidMetal® diving scale, whose first 15 minutes are made of red rubber, applied via a rubber injection technology developed by Omega. Covered by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. It also includes a screw-in crown and a helium escape valve at the 10 o’clock position, which both assist in allowing water-resistance on this watch to reach up to 300 meters (1000 feet).
Time is exhibited on a polished white ceramic dial with round blue contoured hour index markers. This color-scheme salutes the British Royal Navy, although it could easily pass for an American patriots watch with the glorious: red, white and blue. But, in this case we’re supposed to highlight the: red, grey and blue; that match up with the NATO strap.
There are two blue skeleton hands with another unique feature coming in the form of a “007 gun logo” as a counterweight on the red central seconds hands. Also there is a white date aperture at the 3 o’clock position with the particularity that all the numbers are colored blue, except the 7 numeral, due to the James Bond motif of this timepiece.
