After unveiling the: Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016”, here’s one more colorful edition to Omega’s lineup, to honor and mark the occasion of the upcoming Olympic Games. Introducing the: Omega Seamaster Bullhead “Rio 2016”. Its shinny blue strap and bezel catch our attention immediately and as we focus in, the stitching of the strap and highlights in the 60-minutes rotating inner-bezel reveal the remaining traditional colors of the Olympic rings: green, red, black and yellow.

The name “bullhead” was an original nickname, applied by watch collectors who admired the shape of the timepiece and perceived it to look like the head of a bull. It was first launched in 1969 and was once used by rally drivers to time their laps. Omega at the time they announced this new timepiece for the “Rio 2016 Olympics”, also officially introduced three new “friends” from the world of sailing: Brazilian sailor and five-time Olympic medalist, Torben Grael, his daughter Martine Grael, and her partner Kahena Kunze; who are the ranking leaders of the new Olympics class: 49erFX. A two-handed skiff-type high-performance sailing dinghy, managed by a two person team, which debuted in the Sydney Olympics of 2000 and has been featured as a competitive modality ever since.

An appropriate association which demonstrates how the “spirit of speed” has evolved to represent Omega’s continued association as the: Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games.
