Some watches always get lost in the sea of new releases during these huge trade-fairs, especially when their novelty is only linked to a color-scheme or a minor enhancement. Such was the case at SIHH 2019 where Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled a new Reverso model, designed with a very appealing red-wine burgundy tone.
The Reverso collection is by far one of the most iconic and recognizable models in the JLC catalog. And as the saying goes “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”, but accessories such as the strap can be enhanced. So back at SIHH 2018 they initiated their collaboration with Casa Fagliano, in the form of the “Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface X Casa Fagliano” (Ref#: Q396245J), which you can read more about here.
Casa Fagliano is one of the greatest Argentine boot-makers, renown worldwide for working with soft, supple leather that is famed for its durability. The teaming up of such reputable partners has resulted in high levels in craftsmanship to wide acclaim. Which is why in less than a year Jaeger-LeCoultre has already expanded on this collaboration with a series of blue dialed “Reverso Tribute” editions, now followed by this newly released red-wine edition.
The 27.4mm case is made of stainless-steel with a solid case back, with its iconic reversible portion that can be flipped to reveal a solid case back. It never ceases to amaze how such a thin case, measuring in at only 8.6mm, is capable of smoothly swivel out to allow the front or the back to be visible.
Despite its apparent fragile and classy demeanor, which leads most horology enthusiasts to consider it a “dress watch”. In fact the Reverso was one of the first official “sports watches” ever created, having been designed to withstand possible impacts and collisions on the polo field. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 30 meters (96 feet).
Time is exhibited on a burgundy wine-red dial with steel applied hour index markers, followed by smaller white printed railroad-motif minute index markers on its perimeter. There is also a sub-seconds dial that spreads out, taking up much of the dials lower-half.
All these index markers and the sub-seconds have been meticulously applied by hand. It comes equipped with central stainless-steel dauphine style hands. Overall what we encounter here is the very simple and classic default Reverso design, updated by a very captivating wine-red tinged color tone.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Burgundy
