Back at SIHH 2019 there was a series of three limited edition hand-guilloché blue enamel dial watches by Jaeger-LeCoultre. This collection included a Moonphase and tourbillon model. Now JLC has concluded this series by releasing the “Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Enamel”.
We previously reviewed the simpler “Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Moon Enamel” version, which you can read more about here.
The artisans at Jaeger-LeCoultre have really showcased some of their master watchmaker skills on this trio series. Decorative techniques such as guillochage require great attention to detail, which is elevated to a painstaking labor when done upon an enamel dial. Such a brittle and sensitive source material can only be effectively layered and crafted by steady hands with expert minds.
The 39mm case is made of 18k white gold with a polished finish. On the flip-side we have a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The white gold casing ring is engraved with some technical details and the unique limited edition number for each individual timepiece.
It comes equipped with a setting-crown that has been embossed with the Jaeger-LeCoultre logo. The cases stubby polished lugs provide a close and comfortable wrist fit. All topped by a sapphire crystal that also assists with water-resistance on this watch reaching up to 50 meters (164 feet).
Time is exhibited on a blue hand-enameled and guilloché dial with metal applique elongated hour index markers, followed by smaller white dotted minute index markers. It comes equipped central recto baguette style steel hands.
The perpetual calendar is spread out on four sub-dials: a day indicator at the 3 o’clock position; a date indicator at the 9 o’clock position; and the month is found at the 12 o’clock position with two white aperture windows inside the sub-dial exhibiting the current year.
While at the 6 o’clock position is adorned by a Moonphase disk with a starry sky that manages to indicate the moon on both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. It also includes a red security zone indicator, in the center of the dial.
