We’re talking about Europe’s biggest football club tournament, which brings together the national champions and some of the runner-ups form all the countries that make up the European Union. And what better wrist to place this soccer themed timepiece on if not that of renowned living football (or, soccer) legend Pelé, who conquered the World Cup for Brazil three times during his era in: 1958, 1962 and 1970.
And it’s not a coincidence that such a soccer superstar would be a Hublot ambassador, since the brand has continuously linked itself to every major football event, including the “FIFA™ Confederations Cup”, “UEFA Europa League” and “FIFA™ World Cup”. Besides releasing watches linked specifically to soccer teams and players. We previously covered the “Hublot Big Bang Unico Chronograph Retrograde UEFA EURO 2016” (Ref#: 413.CX.7123.LR.EUR16) that occured in France last year, here.
The 45mm case is made of blue ceramic with a polished and satin finish; while its transparent case back allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. On its case back we can also find the inscriptions LIMITED EDITION” plus “N°XXX/100” for each unique numbered limited edition piece on the blue ceramic contours, while on the central sapphire glass treated with an anti-reflective coating we have the “UEFA Champions League” printed logo.
Mounted to the case is a blue ceramic bezel also with a polished and satin finish, plus exposed titanium H-screws securing it to the case. It comes equipped with two polished titanium pushers that activate the chronograph functions with a polished titanium setting-crown in-between them.
The protruding lugs are made of a blue composite resin that guarantees a comfortable wrist fit. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment, which assists with water-resistance on this watch reaching up to 50 meters (164 feet).
Time is exhibited on a blue sunray satin-finished dial and titanium applied hour index markers, followed by smaller white printed minute index markers circling around. There are two sub-dials: a sub-seconds at the 3 o’clock position and a 30-minute counter at the 9 o’clock position. Inside the sub-seconds dial we can see the iconic “UEFA Champions League” logo printed out with its starball and eight linking stars.
The central hands and smaller sub-dials hands have also been crafted from polished titanium. While the thin central chronograph hand features the Hublot logo on its tail-end. There is also a white date aperture located at the 6 o’clock position.
