The Brits may be flirting with a “Brexit”, but the British watch brand Graham is back with another batch of their successful ‘Chronofighter’s’. This time around they’re issuing 4 new “Graham Chronofighter Vintage Anniversary” editions. These watches are also limited editions of only 15 pieces per each version.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the first “Graham Chronofighter” to hit the horology market, back in 2001. And all the elements that have made this an iconic timepiece are still present. From the retro military design, to the bulky crown guard, which resembles a grenade pin. After all the watch was originally inspired by the ‘bombardier timer countdown watches’, once used by Royal Air Force flying officers during World War II.

The unusually big lever that starts and stops the chronograph was made that way for a reason. Since the WWII bombardiers had to work at such high altitudes and be exposed to freezing temperatures, they were required to wear thick heavy gloves. The big lever made the task of operating these ‘bomb timers’ much more accessible, under such extreme weather conditions and thick clothing.
The 44mm round case and concave bezel is made of polished stainless-steel and has a transparent caseback, which allows to see the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Lugs are narrow and shaped downwards, securing a snug fit to the strap and wrist. On the left-side of the case is the aforementioned iconic steel fast-action start/stop trigger and reset pusher, we’ve already described in detail. Near it in the 10 o’clock position is a pusher which resets the chronograph registers. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating finishes sealing off the case and assists in its water-resistance.
The retro modern dial on this timepiece can be had in four different color schemes: three of them in black with varying colored accents;
while the fourth one is in a more distinctive blue dial. Colors are nuanced and enhanced on the dial by the sunray motif.
Time is told via baton-style hour index markers and a single “12” Arabic numeral. Central hands vary between grey or beige colored, depending on each model, but they all feature a SuperLuminova coating for enhanced legibility. All of them also include a red tipped hand for the chronograph/stopwatch functions.
There are two sub-dials on this timepiece: a sub-seconds near the 3 o’clock position and a 30-minute counter at the 6 o’clock position. A minute railroad track ring also circles the dial nearing the bezel. We can also observe a day & date aperture near the 9 o’clock position. The brand and model name are present on the dial as well, under the 12 o’clock position.
