Glashütte is one of the few luxury watch manufacturers producing their timepieces in Germany, instead of Switzerland. But, this Swatch group brand has been able to assimilate and incorporate the best of two worlds. Their watches are able to retain the German pragmatism, while adopting the design acumen of the Swiss. A well thought out venture that has gifted horologists with many pieces to rejoice over.

The “Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar” maintains its asymmetrical positioning of the watches complications. But, maintains a reasonable logic, which becomes familiar and reveals an easy legibility, after the initial encounter. The whole index marked 12 hour display is off center to the left, while the moonphase is in the upper right side and the date aperture is on the lower right side. There is also a 60 minute sub-seconds, that cuts into the index markers at the 6 o’clock position, while the rest of it remains partially outside of the time dial.

This 40mm case is available in 18k red gold or stainless steel. And you can also choose between a blue or black colored dial. Both colors have been thru a galvanic coating process that enhances and attributes more depth to enrich the colors vibrancy. The black goes well with the red gold, while the blue is a harmonious fit for the stainless steel case. The sapphire crystal caseback allows an unobstructed view into the movement and its refined mechanisms.

The “Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar” exhibits the same asymmetrical positioning of the complications on the dial. It’s also available in the same color schemes and straps. The only difference resides in featuring a power reserve instead of a moon-phase, which subsequently requires a distinct movement caliber.
