Talk about bling it doesn’t get much “brighter” than white ceramic with a diamond studded bezel. This “immaculate conception” is the latest offering by Girard-Perregaux as they usher out a new take on their Laureato model. Intro0ducing the “Girard Perregaux Laureato White Ceramic”.

We very recently took a close look at the “Girard Perregaux Laureato Black Ceramic” (Ref#: 81010-32-631-32A) which you can read more about here. At the time we referenced how none of the other luxury horology brands with octagonal shaped timepieces had issued any ceramic version. Although this list includes such prestigious brands and models such as the: “Patek Phillipe Nautilus” or “IWC Ingenieur”. Except for “Audemars Piguet” who actually released the first octagon ceramic watch in the form of their “Royal Oak” model. And it hasn’t even been a year since then and Girard-Perregaux are back with this white version, plus some shining diamond embellishments. It seems ceramic keeps gaining more ground as a prime option for manufactures and consumers thanks to its scratchless qualities.

The 38mm case is made of white ceramic with a transparent sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It’s been crafted with a matte finish and linear brushings matching the aesthetic lines found on the stainless-steel versions of the “Laureato”. Mounted to the case is this models signature octagon-over-circle shape, which on this edition includes 56 brilliant-cut diamonds set to the bezel for a total of 0,90ct worth of bling. Topped by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance on this watch reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).

Time is exhibited on a silver dial with a “Clou de Paris” hobnail pattern, on which lay stainless-steel applied hour index markers and a plaque on the upper with “GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1791” and another on the lower-half with “LAUREATO AUTOMATIC”. A white ring circles around the dial with small black printed minute index markers, with a thicker marker for each five-minute increment. The central stainless-steel sword-shaped hands and hour index markers have a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock positon.
