The iconic “Laureato” sports model watch by Girard-Perregaux, originally debuted in the 1970’s. But, back in 2016 while celebrating its 40th anniversary, GP brought new vitality to the “Laureato” in the form of a wide range of distinct variations. Early this year we saw a chronograph versions and now we take a look at these colorfully limited “Summer Editions”.
As aforementioned the “Laureato” has been expanding its appeal with several new offerings, such as the: “Laureato White Ceramic” (Ref#: 81005D82A732-32A) which also came equipped with a diamond studded bezel and a “Clou de Paris” hobnail pattern dial. As you can see here, these new Girard-Perregaux summer editions are almost identical to this previous ceramic option, except for all the lively colors and steel case.
All these summer editions have their time is exhibited on a “Clou de Paris” hobnail pattern dial, with alternating colors. In total there are five models and colors, as follows: “Giallo Luce” (yellow), “Viola Armonia” (purple), “Blu Infinito” (blue), “Turchese Purezza” (turquoise) and “Rosa Prezioso” (pink).
In common all these colored dials have: stainless-steel applied hour index markers, followed by a ring of small black printed minute index markers, with thicker markers for every five-minute increment; the “GP” logo at the 12 o’clock positions; and a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
There is also a plaque underneath the logo “GP” reading “GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1791”, while on the lower-half of the dial is a plaque reading “LAUREATO AUTOMATIC”. Both these plaques have been colored to match each dials hue and blend into the background. The central stainless-steel hands and stainless-steel applied hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
There are two different case sizes available, although they are restricted to specific color models. The “Giallo Luce” (yellow), “Viola Armonia” (purple), “Blu Infinito” (blue) can be had in a 38mm stainless-steel case, with the aforementioned diamond studded bezel, which contains exactly 56 brilliant-cut diamonds set to the bezel for a total of 0,90ct.
While the “Turchese Purezza” (turquoise) and “Rosa Prezioso” (pink) come in a smaller 34mm stainless-steel, with a diamond studded bezel, which contains exactly 56 brilliant-cut diamonds set to the bezel for a slightly lower total of 0,82ct.
Mounted to the case on both of these differing sized options is the signature octagon-over-circle shaped bezel. All topped by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance on theses watches reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).
