At the most recent Frankfurt Auto Show, in Germany, Bentley unveiled their most recent Bentley Continental GT. This British vehicle first debuted back in 2003 and has gone thru various modifications along the years. But, this year Bentley claims it’s a completely new model and can be considered the third generation Continental GT.
To mark the occasion Breitling has also released a brand new “Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Edition”. It was conceived with a unique blue “Dark Sapphire” tinted dial and a diamond pattern made to match the interior of the new Continental GT.
The 48mm case is colored dark blue as a tribute to the new Continental’s “Dark Sapphire” chassis; and made of the patented Breitlight® material developed by Breitling which consists of a lightweight high-tech polymer material that’s been filled with composite fibers for robustness. Previous models we’ve covered that were manufactured with this material include the: “Breitling Avenger Hurricane”, “Breitling Colt Skyracer” and a smaller version of the “Breitling Avenger Hurricane”.
Although this is the first Bentley model to be crafted out of this material by Breitling, which is a welcomed addition due to the high-resistance to scratching, corrosion and traction. Besides further benefits such as the: non-magnetic, non-allergenic properties and thermal stability; the Breitlight® material offers. Also comes equipped with a screw-locked crown which assists with water-resistance being able to reach up to 100 meters (330 feet). Previous Breitling Bentley watches we’ve covered include the: “B05 Unitime Midnight Carbon“, “Midnight Carbon” and “Supersports B55“.
Time is exhibited on a diamond patterned dark sapphire dial, again matching the diamond motif found in the Continental GT interior and dashboard controls. With time indicated via hour index markers and smaller white minute index markers with blue Arabic numerals among them, for the 30-seconds chronograph function. The caliber B06 that powers this chronograph timepiece has a 30-second chronograph feature that is indicated by the blue-tipped central chronograph hand and a blue printed chapter ring, running from zero to thirty.
There are three sub-dials on this 1/8th of a second chronograph: with a 15-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position; a 6 hour totalizer at the 6 o’clock position; and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. Also includes an angled date aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. Covered by a cambered sapphire crystal with a “dark sapphire” tint, glare-proofed on both sides.

Breitling for Bentley GT “Dark Sapphire” Edition
This “Breitling for Bentley GT “Dark Sapphire” Edition” (Ref#: Not available yet) is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement, caliber B06 with 47 jewels and 28,800 vph. Power reserve on this timepiece can last up to 70 hours, when fully wound.
A unique caliber due to its aforementioned “30-second chronograph” system which was inspired by a Breitling patent dating all the way back to 1926, and ensures the central hand makes a full-sweep of the dial in 30-seconds.
Mounted to the watch is a Bentley GT dark blue rubber strap, secured to the wrist by a deployment buckle. This is a limited edition watch with only 500 manufactured pieces. For more information visit the official Breitling Bentley website here.
