This flagship model “Chronomat 44 Blacksteel” by Breitling contains “the entire spirit of aviation on the wrist” affirms the luxury watch manufacture. The “Breitling Chronomat” was first produced in 1941 and has been one of the company’s best-selling models. The original version was completely influenced by military themes, while this present edition aimed for Baselworld 2016 is similar to its 2009 edition and is proud to be totally in-house produced by Breitling.
The 44mm case is made of black steel that’s been treated with a high-resistance carbon-based black coating. Its screw-locked crown and pushers are ratcheted. While the unidirectional bezel contains black rubber-inlaid numerals with a large orange luminescent dot to enhance legibility for timing countdowns. The scratch-resistant cambered sapphire glass renders this watch water-resistant up to 200m (660 feet). Also has a sapphire crystal caseback that allows to visualize the inner workings of the movement.
A twist on previous versions of this watch was the opting for square sub-dials with red accents, reminiscent of aviation control panels, instead of keeping them round. The black dial has index markers with luminescent coating highlights, just like the hour and minute hands possess in order to tell time at a glance. The three sub-dials are a: 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position, a 12-hour counter ate the 6 o’clock position and a sub-seconds dial at the 9 o’clock position.

This “Breitling Chronomat 44 Blacksteel” (Ref#: MB0111C3/BE35/253S/M20DSA.2) is powered by a self-winding in-house mechanical movement, caliber Breitling 01, with 47 jewels and 28,800 vph. The power reserve on this timepiece can last up to 70 hours. Mounted to the watch is a black military anthracite fabric exterior strap with a rubber lining for enhanced comfort and a folding clasp.
