Back at Baselworld 2015 Breitling introduced the “Breitling Chronoliner” with a panda dial and a ceramic rotating bezel. Now a year later they’ve returned to this model and made it out of 18k red gold, while mounting it to a rubber strap. And we must say it looks impressive. But, don’t wait too long before seeking one out. This watch is a limited edition of only 250 pieces that won’t last long.

The 46mm round case is made of 18k red gold or polished-steel in the non-limited version. This model features plunger style chronograph pushers and a rotating bezel. There is no crown guard and the moderately sized lugs provide a comfortable fit on most wrists. The black ceramic bezel is quite an upgrade from their standard painted metal.

Besides the fact that ceramic holds its shine forever, although others would argue it can break. But, then again nothings perfect, because metal will scratch and wear itself out. But, for those who go on looks, the red gold and black ceramic match very well on this Breitling Chronoliner. It all boils down to a matter of personal taste. Also the numerals on the bezel are colored red gold to match the lugs, pushers, hands and other numerals on the dial.

The panda dial is a classic in its own right and though Breitling has issued quite a few, this one still keeps its own particular charm. The overall dial is in black, while the three sub-dials are in white: a 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock positon; a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position; and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. Featuring Arabic numerals in a 24-hour scale, with a sort of railroad track of small red gold minute index markers circling the dial. There is also a date window at the 3 o’clock position.

Hands and large hour index markers in line with the Arabic numerals have a SuperLuminova coating for enhanced legibility. Also this timepiece has a GMT hand in order to tell two time-zones at once. But, if you chose to use the 24-hour scale on the dial in conjunction with the 24-hour scale on the rotating bezel, you can track up to three time-zones in simultaneous. And covering the dial is a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating to minimize and avoid glare.
