The 40mm case is available in either stainless-steel (with a white dial) or 18k rose gold (with a silver opaline dial). Both these models have a transparent exhibition case back that allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement.
Mounted to the case is the distinctive Villeret double steeped, also known as the “double pomme” bezel. It comes equipped with Blancpain’s patented under-lug corrector to set and re-set the day of the week, which requires no special tool; while the date is adjusted via the setting-crown.
Despite the large 40mm diameter this watch still wears very lightly on the wrist with only a mere 11.1mm in height, thickness. Also features long protruding lugs that offer a very comfortable wrist fit. Topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with this watch being water-resistant up to 30 meters (98 feet).
Time is exhibited on the aforementioned silver dial (on 18k rose gold) or white dial (on stainless-steel) with Roman numerals matching each cases material. What we have here is an elegant classical minimalist layout with an alluring simplicity. Featuring the instantaneous recognizable Blancpain font for these applied Roman numerals.
It also features leaf-shaped skeletonized hour and minute hands; plus an elongated central second’s hand matching each models case material with the Blancpain initials on it as a counterweight.
This model introduces a new spacious spread out retrograde day of the week indicator positioned on an arc between the 7 and 9 o’clock positions. There are also two large windows for the date located between the 5 and 6 o’clock positions. Blancpain has accomplished to provide an effective legibility, while also attributing this dial with: day, date and time.
