Bell & Ross has been a sponsor of the “Renault Sport Formula One™ Team” for nearly three years. And in this short time frame they have already released several models spreading awareness and generating brand recognition in the motor-sports arena. Historically the brand Bell & Ross was much more associated with aviation. But, it has become clear that with the release of the first “Bell & Ross BR-X1 RS16” which we reviewed here. And the subsequent releases up to this date, such as the most recent: “Bell & Ross BR 03-94 RS18” have shown the brand is successfully evolving in to much more than just an aviation watch.

Time is exhibited on a black carbon-fiber dial with Arabic numerals and a printed ring of white minute index markers, with larger white indexes for every five-minute increment. Carbon-fiber is a highly-prized material in the world of high-end motoring, making it a proper choice for this racing themed watch. There is also an internal yellow minute track ring of markers beginning at the 2 o’clock spot and circling around till the 12 o’clock position; this yellow coloring matches the central chronograph hand so they can pair together for the race countdowns and lap timing.

Design wise the color scheme of this watch clearly evokes the sporting world of race tracks and paddocks, with its numerals adopting the typography used for the “Renault Sport Formula One™ Team”. It includes two sub-dials: a sub-seconds with a white hand at the 3 o’clock position; and a 30-minute counter with a red hand and track ring at the 9 o’clock position. The central hands and numerals have been given a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position, highlighted by a red circumference.
