Earlier this year at Baselworld 2017, Bell & Ross revealed a new edition to their “Vintage” collection. Now its been updated and given the same classic watch design, but with a military theme. Introducing the “Bell & Ross BR V1-92 Military” timepiece.

So, let’s recall the three models Bell & Ross introduced a while back with black dials and straps. We’re speaking of the Bell & Ross: “BR-V1 Vintage”, “BR V2-92 Vintage” and “BR V2-94” models. They quite differed from the brands more typical releases of sporty or military inspired watches. These timepieces were conceived with 1960’s elements, which can be linked back to aviation trends, but without the iconic Bell & Ross circle in a square dial.

After that edition it didn’t take long to introduce a sequel to that version, in the similarly shaped “Bell & Ross – BR V2 92 & 94, which we reviewed here. They belong to the same “Vintage” collection and some even share the same reference numbers. But, these came with a distinctive red inner index minute ring, differentiating them from what came before. And were made available in only two iterations: a date model and a chronograph version; instead of three, excluding the simpler model.

And here we are again, this time with only one date model, but with a completely re-envisioned military style dial, which is quite appealing style wise. As well as some trendy faux-patina elements which are welcomed touches to this latest Bell & Ross offering. Worth mentioning is also the very similar, although uniquely colored “BR V1-92 Bellytanker” option that Bell & Ross also has made available and which we recently reviewed here.

The new offering has a 38.5mm case made of stainless-steel with a satin-polished finish and a transparent case back that allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Mounted to the case is a thin bezel, topped by an ultra-curved sapphire crystal with a anti-reflective coating, which assists in keeping this watch water-resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet). An overall simple design which is primarily what the target market for timepieces like this are looking for.

Time is exhibited on a black dial with beige colored hour index markers with two-digit Arabic numerals in front of them referencing the escalating minutes and a series of smaller white minute index makers, circling around the dial nearing the bezel; while the hours are indicated via the larger beige/patina colored index markers. The central metal-skeletonized hands have been also colored beige and both the hands plus the beige hour index markers, have been filled with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
