Back in 2016 Bell & Ross released a woman’s watch model dubbed “BR S Diamond Eagle”. It had an elegant yet simple overall design, but it became a best-seller for the brand. Now it returns in 2018 with some alternate color-schemes and a ceramic option.

When the original model came out we were impressed and wrote a brief review on it, as you can read here. It immediately struck us as an unusual timepiece for Bell & Ross, although case wise their trademark was still there. But, the overall simple dial design had an eye-fetching quality that stuck with us. And apparently it appealed rather well to its target market as it now returns as a full collection

Once again this iconic round dial is set in a 39mm square case, but material wise the options have been extended to please a wider range of consumers. You can either opt for a stainless-steel version, just like the original, or a white ceramic version; both with a solid case back. Also to appeal towards a more feminine clientele the 39mm sizing manages to hit the sweet spot in terms of proportions.
Meanwhile the bezel mounted to all these cases is in stainless-steel, even for the white ceramic model. But, the consumer will have a diamond studded bezel option for all the different colored dials being offered. The diamond version is set with 66 diamonds totaling in at 0.99ct. All the models are topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, which also assists with water-resistance on this watch reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited on either a: white, grey, blue or pink dial; all with a sunray style finish creating an illusion of depth. This finishing technique helps to evoke a sense of infinite expansion of the sky and space, which was how the original “other worldly” marketing video campaign for this watch was presented.
So, these colors were chosen by the artistic directors at Bell & Ross for specific reasons. The returning “Midnight blue” was used due to being the most distinguishing color of the Milky way; while “Grey” represents the moon; “White” evokes the fluffy cumulonimbus clouds; and finally “pink” is a hue that tends to grace the sky at sunrise and sunset, recalling the supernovae which are mysterious stars that produce a pink halo when they explode.
Each one of these dials is then set with very subtle faceted hour index markers circling around the flange and is set with seven diamonds positioned to form the Aquila constellation, in the northern sky. The watch get its name from this constellation, since “Aquila” is Latin for “eagle”. It represents the bird that carried Zeus in the Greco-Roman mythology.
