So, it’s been 15 years since the “Concept” collection was initially introduced and since then we’ve seen a series of interesting models be released on the horology scene. Like the ”Royal Oak Concept Supersonnerie” (Ref#: 26577TI.OO.D0023CA.01) equipped with a minute-repeater which we reviewed here.

Or, another timepiece that comes to mind with this new release being aimed at the female audience, is the more subtle “Frosted Gold Royal Oak“ released last year both in an 18k white or rose gold edition, decorated with the “Florentine Technique” you can read more about here.
All noteworthy watches, but this new release marks the first “Royal Oak Concept” for woman, as well as being the first equipped with a flying tourbillon. Now the ladies finally got Audemars Piguet’s attention with these two diamond studded timepieces.

They both come in a 38.5mm case made out of an 18k white gold with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Mounted to the watch is the standard octagon shaped bezel an essential part of this models DNA. Also equipped with a setting crown that has a translucent sapphire cabochon attached.
These two recent offerings only differ by one coming encrusted with brilliant-cut diamonds on its case, lugs, and a portion of the bezel; while the other new release is studded with baguette-cut diamonds in the same sections.
Topped by a glareproofed sapphire crystal, which also assists with keeping this watch water-resistant up to 20 meters (65 feet). In total there are 460 diamonds: of 397 brilliant-cut or baguette-cut on the case and buckle, which sum up 3.49 carats; another 62 of either cut diamonds equaling 0.16 carats for the dial; and 9 diamonds summing up 0.02 carats used in decorating the movement.
Time is exhibited on an open-worked 18k white gold dial with pieces of diamonds scattered along the edges on an inner bezel creating a vignette-style encasing, around all the gears and components we can see grinding away inside.
The central semi-openworked 18k white gold hands have been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. Its first flying tourbillon on ladies timepiece can be seen twirling away at the 6 o’clock position, with sparkling diamonds in its midst.
