Madison Avenue in New York will be the stage for one of the biggest watch events of the year: the sixth edition of “Madison Avenue Watch Week”, presented by “The Wall Street Journal”, the “Madison Avenue Business Improvement District and the “Horological Society of New York”, from April 13th thru the 20th.
It all began six years ago, when the insight occurred of hosting a showcase in the US that could exhibit timepieces recently unveiled at the SIHH and Baselworld, the two biggest horology events in the world, both held in Switzerland. And thus began this new tradition of shortly after Baselworld has finished, to ship some of the most interesting timepieces over the Atlantic Ocean to America and exhibit them, hosting a horology extravaganza.
Participating brands include: “A. Lange Söhne”, “Asprey”, “Chopard”, “De Grisogono”, “Diesel”, “Fabergé”, “F.P. Journe”, “Freywille”, “Hublot”, “Jaeger-LeCoultre”, “Montblanc”, “Officine Panerai” and “Vacheron Constantin”. All these luxury watch brands have storefronts on North America’s largest luxury shopping district: Madison Avenue, in Manhattan.
This year’s edition many of the participating brands will try to feature timepieces that haven’t been seen in the North American market yet. Such as the: “Chopard L.U.C. Perpetual Chronograph” recently unveiled at Baselworld 2016; or, the “Fabergés Lady Compliquée Peacock” and “Visionnaire Flying Tourbillon” also launched at the most recent Baselworld. While the “Asprey”, “Grisogono” and “Montblanc” brands will actually seize this opportunity to reveal new pieces during: Madison Avenue Watch Week.
Other activities include: Hublot hosting a cocktail reception to celebrate the publication of Aaron Sigmond’s latest horology book: “Drive Time: Watches inspired by Automobiles, Motorcycles, and Racing”. Jaeger-LeCoultre will host a series of watchmaking classes. And there will be an exhibition highlighting the novelties from “A. Lange & Söhne” for 2016.
